Due to lowered resistance to infection, individuals with diabetes are more likely to develop periodontal (gum) disease than those who do not suffer from this condition. For those prone to developing issues with their oral health, these infections can also prove to be more severe, particularly among those who have difficulty maintaining their glucose levels. This damage to one’s gums and teeth can in turn have a negative impact on controlling diabetes

Promoting good oral health also involves regular visits to your dentist to check for changes to your teeth and gums, along with a professional cleaning.A diabetic person must maintain his or her diet for good oral health.

Replace your toothbrush every 2-3 months. The dentists recommend that you replace your toothbrush often because your toothbrush will trapped lots of bacteria as you use it. The old bristle won’t be able to do a good job either.
